The Challenge: Construct a facility adjacent to an existing wind turbine to be used to educate customers and the general public about renewable energy, wind turbine technology, and MidAmerican’s commitment to renewable energy.

The Solution: In addition to highlighting wind energy technology the MidAmerican Energy building was designed to focus on conservation of water by channeling all roof water to a rain garden and installation of low water consuming plumbing fixtures. Other important components of the design include diminishing local heat island effect by installing a white roof, minimizing energy usage by specifying high performance glazing, increasing building insulation, and using heat pump technology.
